Campeche’s beach in Florianópolis is a place like no other in Santa Catarina state. Besides the natural aspect, which makes this one of the most beautiful beaches of the country, this beach is also a place fill with culture. The traditions are still kept by the native fishermen. The simplicity and hospitality of these dear people mix with the natural charm of the clear water and white thin sand.
Campeche has received an important guest, the writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The author of the “The little Prince” has landed in Campeche in 1929, where stayed until 1931. The legend says that Campeche was baptized by Exupéry, because he used to call the place “Champ et Pêche”, which means fishing field. The aviator became a very important character for the local people and received the nickname of “Zé Perri”.
With three and a half kilometers of extension, Campeche’s beach is located between Joaquina’s beach and Morro das Pedras beach. Among the attractions of the place are Lampião’s mountain, that offers a 360º view of the island and Campeche’s lagoon, which has clear sweet water. At the beach there is a place called “Riozinho” (little river), which is well noted by surfers, kite surfers and volleyball players.
Besides these attractions, Campeche’s island deserves a special mention. It is one of the biggest and greatest attractions of the beach, because is a frame for the blue ocean horizon. A beautiful spectacle provided by nature to local and visitors. Still in honor of Exupérry, was built at Campeche’s beach, the “Zé Perri Space”, another famous attraction of the place.
The place an open house all year long and it has 24 posters given by the pilot’s family, five banners explaining the history of French aviation in Brazil and several object related to it. Campeche really is a spectacle of culture and nature!
